visit 1 from new caseworkers

yesterday the new team swept in and paid a visit to assess me for caring,  when in fact it may all be going permanent within the week.  the older worker and i had a little history; although we'd never met,  she was teaching at college when i was studying welfare. upon meeting over 20 years on, i read her as being committed to the job of caring and casually knowledgeable. her offsider despite being distracting attractive,  was also buried deep within her job.
the topic of carer payment was mentioned and as usual swept under the carpet and not dwelled upon by me. the lead worker was recommended I be paid at a higher rate due to the care requirements. i shrugged it off with a nod of thanks before casually checking online later to be quite surprised at what it would mean for me. the basic rate would see me adding the carer payment on to supplement my gardening income.  the higher payment is sufficient for me to consider reducing my mowing schedule.
what will happen is that i will lose a couple of crappy jobs and use the extra income to set aside savings for harry to attend college and tidy up the house,  get a "new" ute and so on.
to me taking money for caring seems disingenuous. I'd like to be able to say i'd do it for nothing but the reality is the extra commuting, food and clothing expenses,  and co. means that i could only barely scrape by. the cash will ensure harry is comfortable and i am more relaxed than i would be living hand to mouth.  besides,  from my perspective outs one of the most valuable jobs in the community.

the following day: today's expected stay over has not been carried through.  i do know that young harry was expecting to come today and yesterday,  one of the new caseworkers mentioned that it was supposed to occur.  but here we are,  close to 5pm and nothing; no messages, no workers phoning.
i did disclose to the two workers yesterday that my pet hate was bureaucractic bungling. it seems they may be trying me out ? poor young harry. I'm hoping it's a momentary slip up during the transition and won't be repeated,  but somehow i doubt that.
